Matthew has been actively involved in union work since 2016, serving as a union delegate and School Council Member at the local level in his school. In 2022, he joined the Board Committee, and in the autumn of 2024, he was appointed Sector Director for Cree School Board teachers. With over a decade of experience as a teacher, he also serves as the Health & Safety representative for Mistissini.
