Southern teachers voted in favor of a settlement for their sectoral negotiations. This settlement, that we can now call a sectoral agreement, puts an end to their negotiations. The agreement foresees a higher salary increase for the new teachers. This salary increase is on top of what is being negotiated at the CSQ intersectoral table. Some provisions of this agreement will be integrated in our collective agreements (Cree and Kativik) as is or after adaptation. However, our own negotiations are far from over and our priority demands are still on the tables. Our demands on regional disparities are still not settled and the government still has no openness. Negotiation meetings are scheduled next week.
Let’s hope this agreement will open the way to satisfactory agreements in principle for all of our members. Congrats to the FSE and QPAT for their agreement!
